Pamela E. Berman Honored with 2014 Lelia J. Robinson Award at Reception in Boston November 18

Pamela E. Berman (pictured with Kara DelTufo, WBA Board of Directors President), a Partner in the firm's Boston office, was honored as a Lelia J. Robinson award recipient by the Women's Bar Association on November 18, 2014 in Boston. 

Named after the first woman admitted to the Massachusetts bar, the Women’s Bar Association of Massachusetts (WBA) established the Lelia J. Robinson Award in 1994 to recognize women who reflect Robinson’s pioneering spirit in the legal profession and have made a difference in the community. Previous recipients include Sen. Elizabeth Warren, Chief Justice Margaret Marshall, Judge Nancy Gertner, Beth Boland, and Lisa Goodheart, among others.  Monica Halas, the lead attorney in the Employment Law Unit of Greater Boston Legal Services, also reveived the award.

Berman is a highly regarded trial lawyer in the Boston office of Bowditch & Dewey, with impressive experience in the commercial litigation, securities and employment sectors, including two recent jury trials involving multi-million dollar disputes. For more than 30 years, she has represented businesses in complex commercial disputes and broker-dealers and brokers in arbitrations and enforcement proceedings. Her background also includes a wide variety of intellectual property matters, such as trademarks and copyright-infringement cases. 

Outside of the office, Berman served as the WBA’s president from 2005 – 2006 and co-chair of the WBA’s Women’s Leadership Initiative from 2010 – 2012. While working part time and raising children in 2000, she co-authored the ground-breaking WBA report, “More Than Part-Time.” From 2012 – 2013, she was the president of the National Conference of Women's Bar Associations. In 2013, she was selected to serve on the Advisory Committee on Judicial Nominations for the Federal Court in Boston, which was convened by Sen. Elizabeth Warren. Pam chaired the Equality Commission from 2005 to 2011 and was a member of the Boston Bar Association Task Force on Work Life Balance. In 2013, Massachusetts Lawyers Weekly recognized Berman with a "Top Women of Law Circle of Excellence" award.
