Mr. Ciavarra is a partner in our Litigation Practice and the immediate past managing partner of the firm. He advises businesses on avoiding and, when necessary, litigating business disputes. He has tried numerous jury and bench cases in federal and state courts on matters such as complex business disputes, intellectual property disputes and securities fraud. He also has represented numerous professionals and firms in the securities industry before FINRA (and its predecessor the NASD) and state regulatory authorities. He counsels business clients on employment matters, protection of intellectual property and contract negotiations. He has been recognized by Best Lawyers as one of the state's leading attorneys in the area of intellectual property litigation. Mr. Ciavarra has also been named to the Massachusetts Super Lawyers in the area of business litigation. When he was managing partner, the Massachusetts Women’s Political Caucus named him a “Good Guys” honoree for his ongoing commitment and partnership in achieving equality for women.

Representative cases that Mr. Ciavarra has handled include a copyright infringement trial on behalf of a software client; an action to enjoin unlawful competition and protection of trade secrets; defense in a suit by the acquirer of a subsidiary of our client alleging breach of contract and a claim of securities fraud against our client.
