Elevated levels of PFAS have been found in around 50 Massachusetts communities’ public water systems, making it a growing concern in the state. These new concerns have brought up many legal questions such as, who is responsible for the cleanup.\u00a0 The Worcester Telegram<\/em> spoke with Bob Cox to answer these questions and bring some clarity to the situation.<\/p>\n

The law essentially says if you own the contaminant, then you\u2019re responsible for cleaning it up. In some cases, the PFAS source is clear, like a manufacturing facility or a training ground for firefighters that uses firefighting foams containing PFAS.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n
