{"id":1042,"date":"2018-03-13T14:31:01","date_gmt":"2018-03-13T14:31:01","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.bowditch.com\/campuscounselnewengland\/?p=1042"},"modified":"2020-07-31T13:27:54","modified_gmt":"2020-07-31T13:27:54","slug":"national-science-foundation-sexual-harassment-and-assault-reporting-requirements","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.bowditch.com\/campuscounselnewengland\/2018\/03\/13\/national-science-foundation-sexual-harassment-and-assault-reporting-requirements\/","title":{"rendered":"National Science Foundation Proposes Sexual Harassment and Assault Reporting Requirements"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>In the wake of the #MeToo Movement, the National Science Foundation (\u201cNSF\u201d) has released a proposed <a href=\"https:\/\/s3.amazonaws.com\/public-inspection.federalregister.gov\/2018-04374.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">policy<\/a> seeking to impose sexual harassment and assault-related reporting requirements on Colleges and Universities (\u201cInstitutions\u201d).<\/p>\n<p>If adopted, Institutions will have to notify NSF if they find that a Principal Investigator (\u201cPI\u201d) or Co-Investigator (\u201cCo-PI\u201d) on an NSF-funded research project has engaged in harassment or sexual assault. Institutions will also have to notify NSF if they place a Co-PI or PI on administrative leave due to an allegation or finding of harassment or sexual assault.<\/p>\n<p>A violation must be reported to NSF even if it occurs off-campus\u2014including on-line, at field sites and at conferences and workshops.
