{"id":168,"date":"2015-06-24T14:19:12","date_gmt":"2015-06-24T14:19:12","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.bowditch.com\/diversityinclusionma\/?p=168"},"modified":"2020-07-31T13:24:34","modified_gmt":"2020-07-31T13:24:34","slug":"wicked-good-progress-gender-neutral-bathrooms-established-at-boston-city-hall","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.bowditch.com\/diversityinclusionma\/2015\/06\/24\/wicked-good-progress-gender-neutral-bathrooms-established-at-boston-city-hall\/","title":{"rendered":"Wicked Good Progress: Gender Neutral Bathrooms Established At Boston City Hall"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>For most of us, the biggest concern about needing to use a bathroom when we\u2019re out in public is where to find it.\u00a0 Imagine if you also had to worry about being harassed when you finally found the bathroom, or that you would be prohibited from using it altogether.\u00a0 For the transgender community, this situation is actually quite common.\u00a0 According to Emilia Dunham, Project Manager for The Fenway Institute of the Life Skills Project, \u201ca 2011 national survey data suggest the majority (70 percent) of U.S. transgender people sampled experienced verbal harassment, assault, or were denied access to public restrooms.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><!--more--><\/p>\n<p>Recognizing the struggles faced by the transgender community in accessing public bathrooms, Boston Mayor Martin J.
