Worcester Telegram & Gazette quotes Joshua Lee Smith in “Holy Cross’ $92M Performing Arts Center Gets Planning Board Approval”

The Worcester Telegram & Gazette has quoted Joshua Lee Smith in “Holy Cross’ $92M Performing Arts Center Gets Planning Board Approval” following the unanimous approval of the two-level, 85,500-square-foot facility, with construction scheduled to begin by Spring 2019. Below is an excerpt from the article.

“Mr. Smith said the state-of-the-art facility, which is intended to become the college’s main venue for performing arts programs, will include a 400-seat concert hall/theater and flexible studio space that will include dressing and rehearsal rooms, as well as support space and other multi-use spaces to encourage collaboration among the arts.

He said it will also have an amphitheater for outdoor performances and gatherings. In addition, the Cantor Art Gallery will be relocated to the new building from O’Kane Hall.

“This is a very important project for the college,” Mr. Smith told the Planning Board. “It’s been a long time in terms of its planning process and design. It will serve students, faculty and others for performing arts activities, concerts, recitals, dance activities and other gatherings.”
