John Hofmann is a seasoned litigator with over 20 years in private practice, covering a wide range of civil litigation. He primarily represents homeowners, businesses, construction companies and contractors in construction disputes and disputes arising out of public bidding and public construction contracts. John also represents businesses in a variety of commercial disputes, and handles federal Trademark applications and maintenance of registered marks.
He has represented both plaintiffs and defendants in contract disputes, tort disputes, commercial and residential lease disputes, land use issues and employment matters, at both the trial and appellate level. John has represented license holders and professionals before various boards of the state Division of Occupational Licensure, as well as employers before the Massachusetts Commission Against Discrimination. He advises licensees and professionals regarding their licensing applications and requirements, and he counsels employers on employment issues and employee handbooks.
Before Bowditch
John worked at a small Boston law firm where he represented a variety of clients, ranging from individuals and families, employers, residential and commercial landlords, a local non-profit scientific organization, multiple automobile dealerships, professionals and licensees, and federal Trademark applicants. Before entering private practice, John was a Law Clerk to the Late Honorable John H. Mason of the Massachusetts Appeals Court.
Besides work
John enjoys traveling in the U.S. and abroad. He is an avid movie-goer and a fan of the Museum of Fine Arts in Boston. John begins each and every day with coffee and the Wordle and the Spelling Bee games.

- Second chaired multiple trials in Massachusetts Land Court, including successful defense of homeowners sued by neighbors claiming adverse possession, and successful defense of land owner sued for zoning violations
