Catherine Spanu to Present on Common Tax Issues in Family Law Cases
Tax considerations affect many aspects of domestic relations practice, including alimony, recapture, property division, capital gains tax, child tax credits and innocent spouse relief. Understanding these issues is essential for any family law practitioner advising clients through divorce.
On December 10, 2025, the Massachusetts Bar Association’s Family Law Section will host “The Essential Guide to Family Law Financials: Common Tax Issues in Family Law Cases.” Catherine Spanu will speak at the webinar, which is designed to give practitioners a strong foundation in the tax considerations that frequently arise in domestic relations matters. The program will begin with core concepts geared toward newer family law attorneys and will progress to more complicated topics including how to incorporate these principles into litigating a case all the way through trial.
