Francine Gardikas and Robin Lynch Nardone to Present on Postjudgment and Interlocutory Review in Family Law Cases
Francine Gardikas and Robin Lynch Nardone will present “When to File for Postjudgment & Interlocutory Review in Family Law Cases,” a Massachusetts Continuing Legal Education program examining the procedural rules and strategic considerations involved in challenging court orders and judgments in Massachusetts family law matters.
Focusing on postjudgment pleadings, interlocutory review, and appeals, Francine and Robin will explain the key distinctions between final and non-final orders, the governing rules under Massachusetts Domestic Relations Procedure, and the pathways available to challenge temporary orders and final judgments. Family law practitioners will gain a clear understanding of when postjudgment pleadings should be filed, when an appeal as of right is available, when leave must be sought, and how timing can affect clients’ rights and case strategy.
Through an analysis of court rules and leading Massachusetts cases, Francine and Robin will highlight common scenarios in family law where postjudgment pleadings or appellate intervention may be warranted. They will share insights on preserving issues for appeal, avoiding procedural pitfalls, and evaluating the risks and benefits of seeking review at different stages of a case. Attendees will learn how to make informed, strategic decisions about postjudgment and appellate options in complex and evolving family law matters.
