Korrin Petersen is an environmental attorney with more than two decades of experience advancing clean water initiatives, navigating complex environmental issues, and addressing regulatory challenges through legal strategy and advocacy. Her work spans federal and state water law, policy development, infrastructure planning and litigation, with a particular focus on improving wastewater management and protecting water quality across Massachusetts.
Korrin brings a unique blend of legal, technical and scientific knowledge to her practice. She has advised public and private entities on the planning, permitting and implementation of wastewater infrastructure projects, including regional and decentralized systems, groundwater discharge, and nitrogen-reducing septic technologies. Her experience includes managing federal grants, leading feasibility studies, and advocating for innovative, science-based solutions to meet state and federal water quality standards.
As lead in-house counsel at a prominent nonprofit focused on Buzzards Bay, Korrin litigated landmark federal Clean Water Act cases and successfully defended state authority under the Massachusetts Oil Spill Prevention and Response Act. She has challenged inadequate discharge permits, supported wetlands appeals, and helped shape local and state regulations aimed at reducing pollution from on-site septic systems.
Korrin is also an experienced legislative advocate, having drafted and promoted environmental legislation and regulations at both the state and federal levels. Her leadership in community-based advocacy has helped secure funding, policy reforms, and public support for clean water initiatives throughout the region.
