Joshua Lee Smith Quoted in “Latest apartment project in Worcester: 218-unit building off Shrewsbury Street” in the Worcester Telegram

The City of Worcester’s Zoning Board of Appeals met on September 12 to hear requests for special permits and variances. At the meeting, a public hearing for a 218-unit residential building off Shrewsbury Street was postponed until October, but in other matters, the board voted 6-0 in favor of AKROS Development’s parking and parking-related variances for a nine-story, mixed-use retail/residential building. The site, which has been vacant for approximately a year, will be transformed into 105 housing units and 1,000 square feet of ground floor commercial space. In addition, the developers, who are being represented by Joshua Lee Smith, are planning a parking garage with 72 spaces and an automated, stacked parking system. Joshua spoke with the Worcester Telegram about the proposed parking system:

“This is a novel concept for the City of Worcester,” he said.
