Josh Lewin Quoted in Law360’s “Teamsters Local Beats Suit By Ex-Officer Accused Of Forgery”

A Teamsters local has beaten back a former union officer’s claims that his discipline after an alleged forgery incident violated the law. The case, which was dismissed by the U.S. District Court for the District of Massachusetts last week, found that Michael Hogan failed to prove that Teamsters Local 170 unlawfully mistreated him after allegations surfaced that he’d forged a letter while attempting to reclaim his seat as the union’s secretary-treasurer in 2018. The allegations identified Hogan as the author of a letter purportedly written by Shannon George, the union’s secretary-treasurer at the time who was running against Hogan, and which confessed to using union cash to finance an affair with a secretary.

Bowditch attorneys Josh Lewin and Jake Tosti represented Local 170 and Shannon George in the U.S. District Court case. Law360 quoted Josh in its article about the decision.

Josh said that his client is pleased with Judge Hillman’s decision and noted “As Local 170 has said from the very beginning of this case, Mr. Hogan’s claims have no merit.”
