Matt Morris to present tax seminar at Worcester Chamber of Commerce Seminar Series

On November 15, Matt Morris will present a seminar at the Worcester Regional Chamber of Commerce, titled “Navigating the Tax Cuts and Jobs Act of 2017: What Business Owners Need to Know.”

The Tax Cuts and Jobs Act of 2017 has ushered in a new era of tax reform, meaning tax breaks for some, increases for others, and confusion for all. Individuals and businesses alike have been effected by the extensive legislation, provoking many questions along the way. To help answer those questions, Matt will address the following:

  • New tax treatment of pass-through income
  • New limitations on deductions of state and local taxes
  • Disallowance of miscellaneous itemized deductions
  • Expansions of standard deductions and the child tax credit
  • Expanded benefits of 529 accounts
  • Survival of AMT for individuals and repeal of AMT for corporations
  • Repeal of the Obamacare individual mandate and retention of the employer mandate
  • Reduction of C corporation income tax rate to 21%
  • New depreciation and §179 expensing rules
  • New limitations on deductions of business interest
  • Changes to the net operating loss (NOL) rules
