Investors, retailers and others involved in the local and national cannabis industry seek the help of our team’s advice and representation.  We help businesses and individuals who want to invest or venture into the multi-billion dollar cannabis industry, offering  the guidance necessary to navigate the dynamic, and often conflicting, federal and state laws and municipal authority surrounding the adult use, sale and cultivation of both recreational and medicinal cannabis.

Not only do we help investors and marijuana retailers, but we also work with the wide variety of ancillary institutions and industries connected to the industry.  These include:

  • Marketers
  • Banks and financial institutions
  • Municipalities
  • Suppliers and dispensaries  and
  • Manufacturers

In addition, members of our team have helped employers, contractors, developers, design/build entities, architects, property owners and landlords by resolving complex regulatory issues, thorny disputes, and by handling sophisticated transactions.

In the course of working with our clients, we’ve also dealt with product liability claims, tax advice and reporting, business formation, licensing and operations, regulatory and legal compliance, corporate structuring, joint ventures, mergers and acquisitions and debt and equity financing.

Members of our industry team have handled protection of intellectual property, real estate acquisitions, sales and leasing, real estate and environmental issues affecting developers, landlords, and tenants and employment counseling, including executive and employee contracts, non-competition agreements and trade secrets.

Protecting intellectual property

Members of our industry team represented a cannabis marketing company with the IP issues, including trademark applications/registrations, along with licensing agreements with growers and consulting agreements with social media “influencers.”

Helping an architect

An architect needed help with a variety of agreements. We negotiated and prepared non-disclosure agreements, design agreements, multi-site development agreements and design-build agreements for cultivation and dispensary facilities.
