Restaurants have been hit hard by COVID-19, and many are struggling to reopen. There are many challenges they face in addition to adapting to the new public health guidelines. Some employees are uncomfortable returning to work because they fear they will contract COVID-19, and others would prefer not to come back because they make more from unemployment benefits than they would have at work. The MetroWest Daily News spoke with Bob Young about the critical steps employers can take and what circumstances will allow employees to stay at home. Below is a quote from the article:

The most critical step employers can take to address worker concerns about contracting COVID-19 is to have a plan in place to provide a sense of security that returning to work is safe, said Bob Young, partner at the law firm Bowditch and Dewey.

The wearing of face masks, the presence of hand washing stations and frequent cleaning of high-touch surfaces are elements of the plan.
