Bowditch has an opening for an IT Systems Administrator to be part of the Information Systems Team. This position will be based from our Worcester, MA office and will be responsible for systems administration in our Worcester, Framingham, and Boston offices. This position will report to the Director of Information Systems and will collaborate with all legal practices and business operations teams at the firm.
The IT Systems Administrator role supports a wide range of technologies and applications as a part of an IT team. Primary responsibilities include managing the Helpdesk, Microsoft 365, Active Directory, back-ups, recovery, file permissions and maintenance, system OS and software upgrades, and software configuration and updates. Due to the nature of the work, this position will occasionally require the individual to work outside of Bowditch’s standard business hours.
Responsibilities
- Provide direct support in the day-to-day operations of network hardware, operating systems, and applications; duties include evaluation of system utilization, monitoring performance, and primary support for detection and correction of operational problems, liaise with vendors and other IT personnel for problem resolution
- Create end-user accounts and ensure accuracy and timeliness of same
- Create and maintain system documentation and procedures
- Provide exceptional service and communicate clearly on technical issues to end-users
- Collaborate with other departments to understand their technology needs and provide solutions
- Manage and maintain our M365, Active Directory, Azure, Cloud, and Exchange systems and infrastructure
- Monitor system performance and troubleshoot issues as they arise
- Maintain awareness of emerging technologies and industry trends, and potential impact
- Patching of Windows endpoints and servers
- Build and maintain positive relationships with internal clients across practice groups and departments
- Other duties and/or projects as assigned
Required Experience, Job Related Competencies, and Essential Knowledge
- Superior customer service orientation, comprehensive understanding of the organization’s goals and objectives, and ability to effectively prioritize and execute tasks in a high-pressure, fast-paced environment
- Strong knowledge of and experience with M365, Teams, SharePoint, Active Directory, Azure, VMWare, and Exchange a plus
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Curious with an ability to troubleshoot
- Strong interpersonal skills and resourcefulness
- Experience with training and enablement is a plus
- Excellent analytical and critical thinking skills
- Ability to manage multiple priorities, work cross-functionally and meet tight deadlines
- Understanding of professional services organizational challenges
- Excellent written and oral communication skills, including instructional and presentation skills, as well as strong interpersonal skills with a focus on motivational skills and positive attitude
- Ability to present information and communicate (using business-friendly and user-friendly language) calmly, with courtesy and tact, in one-on-one and small group situations, with co‑workers, attorneys, supervisors, clients, and others
